The Young Ones was an exhibition that I co-ordinated with my friend and co-editor of Us Folk magazine Ash Peak, in April as part of National Youth Week 2013. The exhibition was co-ordinated by Us Folk, and sponsored by Youth Week, Beyond Blue, Youth Coalition of the ACT and the ACT Government. The Young Ones was held for one week at The Front Gallery and Cafe in Lyneham, featuring artwork and photography by 18 young Canberrans aged between 15 and […]
I’ve been pretty quiet online lately, but now that I’ve settled into my new home I’m starting to draw again and plan to put more artwork on my Society6 shop soon. I also want to do more market stalls, but it gets pretty chilly in Canberra during winter so when given the choice between being snuggled up at home on a Sunday morning in bed and setting up a stall in the cold… well you can see what I mean. […]
A few weeks ago I finished this set of plates that I did as a commission piece. It was actually a trade that I did with artist Houl, because he did some totally awesome Adventure Time themed artwork for me which I gave to my youngest brother for his 18th birthday. I haven’t done any new plates since these, but I’m about to start doing a big new batch which mostly includes cups and saucers. I’m planning to take this […]
I recently did some artwork for my singer/songwriter friend Lena (aka Helen Johnston). She has been playing a few gigs around Canberra including the National Folk Festival a few weeks ago.
I’ve got an Easter treat for everyone – I’ve designed two DIY Easter garlands that you are welcome to download and print for personal use. All you have to do is cut out the shapes and then they can be attached to string with little pegs, or punch a hole in the top and feed the string through. You could also hang them from an Easter tree if you have one, or use them as gift tags – the possibilities […]
The latest issue of Us Folk is now on sale at Canberra stockists. This is a pencil and watercolour illustration I did for an interview with Ellen Harvey, creator of the Drabbl.es website.
I made a [very last-minute] zine a few days ago for the Canberra Zine Emporium zine fair that was on last Saturday. I’d known about the fair for a while but I’ve been working on a lot of other projects for friends and Us Folk so I kept procrastinating from actual starting my zine. I had a few different ideas for the theme, but in the end I just decided to draw whatever came into my head. A few of […]
I recently did a blog banner illustration for my friend and former Canberra Times fashion writer Claire Low. Claire is now working at Total Girl magazine, but her passion for writing about grown-up fashion will to continue through her new blog Alpha Cameo. I did a caricature of Claire to be used in the blog banner and logos for social media. You can check out her blog here.
Had a great day on Saturday at Art Not Apart. I didn’t really have time to take any photos but I’m sure they’ll upload a bunch here soon. thank you to everyone who came and bought things, it’s always really nice to meet people who like my work and it encourages me to keep doing markets. I also picked up a copy of Wobble magazine at Art Not Apart, and was delighted to see my illustrations in print. I’ve also […]
